Arlan Suderman Webinars: To get ahead of the markets, sometimes you need to take a step back – and look at the big picture. Chief Commodities Economist Arlan Sudeman's Monthly Webinars are intended to do exactly that. Each installment will provide a global perspective on the commodity markets. Mr. Suderman will examine the entire spectrum of commodities focused on, but not limited to: corn, soybean and wheat. Mr. Suderman will also examine global supply and demand fundamentals, and discuss how the global currency, financial and equity markets tie in to the global commodities outlook.
May Preview: The May USDA crop report provides the first look at USDA’s supply and demand balance sheets for the 2017-18 marketing year for the major crops. These balance sheets communicate to the trade whether grain fundamentals are growing increasingly bearish, or whether we are expected to turn the corner and begin to tighten supplies justifying higher prices. As such, they provide the foundation from which the markets will build through the summer and the filter through which summer weather developments are interpreted through the growing season.
