Fed Analysis & Updated Interest Rate Outlook:

If you have debt, you are exposed to volatility in the interest rate markets. The first step in addressing that exposure is understanding the market itself. This webinar is the perfect opportunity to begin the process of protecting your firm from interest rate market volatility.

Interest Rate Outlook for May:

  • The re-normalization of interest rate policy is moving full speed ahead, but long term rates have not yet joined the party. Why is the LIBOR curve so flat and what opportunities does this present?
  • Short term rates are on the rise, but 10-Year rates are now mostly unchanged in 2017 after the recent correction.
  • There is a growing disconnect between FOMC projections beyond 2017 and the forward market, and traders are waiting to see if the Fed will strengthen its language about future rate hikes. The market expects to gain considerable clarity around the Fed’s intention to hike rates again at the following meeting-in June.

FX Outlook for May:

  • From the FX perspective, the USD has fallen about 2.5% from recent interim highs in late December. Brexit and the French elections will begin dominating the news and impacting both the Euro and Sterling. In North America, Mexico and Canada will prepare for NAFTA negotiations.
